Acupuncture in Victoria BC BETA Therapeutics

Elysia Tessler, R.Ac

Elysia came to acupuncture while studying western herbal medicine at Pacific Rim College 8 years ago, where she was introduced to the profound effect that acupuncture has on the nervous system, and the subtle but mind-blowing ways that Chinese medicine can reframe often unexplainable experiences and symptoms. She finished the herbal medicine program, and then four years later, decided to return to Pacific Rim to study acupuncture. Elysia graduated from her program in December 2021 with high honours, and am now in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of British Columbia (CTCMA) as a Registered Acupuncturist. Acupuncture has a direct and powerful impact on the nervous system, which has a cascade effect on other systems of the body, making it an incredible modality to treat such a wide variety of symptoms – from pain to anxiety to digestive complaints. Nervous system regulation is a significant part of Elysia’s acupuncture treatment protocols, whether as a primary focus or alongside treatment for other conditions or injuries.

In her practice, she brings together several modalities and worldviews, including Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), neuroscience, trauma theories such as polyvagal and Somatic Experiencing, and orthopaedic & myofascial understandings. Elysia’s practice is trauma informed, and uses gentle needling techniques which minimize pain and discomfort.

Her areas of interest include, but are not limited to: Pain and injuries from traumatic events (such as automobile accidents), stress, chronic pain, headaches, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue, mental health struggles, digestive disorders, hormonal imbalances, and the nervous system-gut connection.
