Eve Abrams, RCC
Eve has been a counsellor for more than 20 years. Her areas of specialization include eating disorders (binge eating disorder and bulimia) and emotional eating, anxiety, depression, grief and loss, power imbalance in relationships, and working with the LGBTQ+ community. She has helped people dealing with low self-esteem, communication issues, and life transitions; in addition, she has worked with caregivers around self-care and avoidance of burnout.
Over the years, Eve has worked with numerous patients dealing with the effects of childhood trauma and abuse. She has led dozens of self-compassion groups, in which she taught:
- how to deal with the internal self-critic
- how to make sense of implicit or explicit messages from your upbringing that may be creating current obstacles, and
- how to value yourself while setting clear boundaries with others
She often guides her one-to-one clients in the same way providing them the the tools to change unhelpful thinking patterns, and to understanding how emotions are linked to an underlying need. Eve feels grateful in helping people develop a more trusting relationship with their own minds and bodies. From there, they can be empowered to access both inner and outer resources – and in doing so, live fuller and richer lives.
Eve holds a Master’s in Counselling Psychology from UBC.
