Melissa Alterthum, PT
Melissa graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Physical Therapy from PUC-Campinas, Brazil in 2001. She has also completed training in functional dry needling, Acupuncture and manual therapies. Melissa utilizes her expertise in the musculoskeletal system to assess and treat patients suffering from sports/motor vehicle accident related injuries and biomechanic dysfunctions. Her goal is to educate the patients on their condition and causative factors in order to empower them to take an active role in their rehabilitation process.
Furthermore, she has worked with the Banff Sports Medicine Centre surgeons and has developed all of their official pre and post operative knee and shoulder protocols and she has worked backstage with the Alberta Ballet dancers.
Melissa has played competitive tennis, soccer and volleyball and now she stays active by cycling, hiking, weight training and swimming. On her free time she enjoys the outdoors with her daughter and husband.
